Laryssa Imbuzeiro set the career total blocks record, the Purple Eagles fell in straight sets to Sacred Heart (25-15, 25-20, 25-20) on Saturday evening at the William H. Pitt Center.
How it Happened
Sydney Wilkes led the Purple Eagles (13-13, 9-6 MAAC) with nine kills on .500 hitting, but Niagara struggled offensively throughout the match, hitting just .106 as a team.
Liana Tolliver added six kills, though she was held to a .111 hitting percentage.
Sacred Heart's Camryn Luginbuhl dominated the match with 24 kills on .375 hitting to lead all players. The Pioneers (13-14, 9-6 MAAC) hit .287 as a team.
Paisley Ka'ahanui and
Bella Peroni split setting duties for Niagara with 10 and 5 assists respectively. The Purple Eagles managed just four service aces while committing nine service errors.
Defensively, Peroni led Niagara with 11 digs, while Ka'ahanui added eight.
Laryssa Imbuzeiro contributed a team-high five block assists in the losing effort.
The loss puts both teams at 9-6 in MAAC play as the regular season winds down.
