EASTON, Pa. —
Jahari Williamson lifted Niagara to a 65-62 win over Binghamton to kickoff The Lafayette Classic at Kirby Sports Center Friday afternoon.
How it Happened
After Ben Callahan-Gold's 3-pointer tied the game at 62 with five seconds remaining, Williamson delivered the decisive shot from beyond the arc with 0.6 seconds on the clock to give the Purple Eagles (2-4) their second win of the season.
Williamson finished with 15 points, including three 3-pointers, while
Jhaylon Martinez added 13 points and
Olumide Adelodun contributed 12 points and nine rebounds for Niagara.
In a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead changes, Niagara held the advantage for over 27-minutes but never led by more than seven points. After trailing 27-26 at halftime, Niagara built its largest lead at 47-40 midway through the second half before Binghamton rallied to tie the game late.
Williamson scored the final eight points for the Purple and White, including his game-winner to help secure the win.
The Purple Eagles shot 48.1 percent from the field while holding Binghamton to 42.6 percent. Tymu Chenery led Binghamton (2-6) with 18 points and Chris Walker added 16 points and eight rebounds in the loss.
