Purple Eagles Drop MAAC Match to Manhattan

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, N.Y. - Despite a strong second-half showing, Niagara men's soccer fell 2-0 to Manhattan in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon at Niagara Field.
 
How it Happened
The Purple Eagles (2-9-2, 0-4-1 MAAC) mounted significant offensive pressure after halftime, outshooting the Jaspers 10-2 in the second period, but couldn't overcome Manhattan's early advantage.
 
Felix Kogler led Niagara's attack with four shots, including two on target, after coming on as a second-half substitute.
 
Manhattan (5-5-2, 3-1-1 MAAC) struck early when Ziv Dahan scored in the 13th minute off an assist from Sebastiano Musu. The Jaspers doubled their lead before halftime as Tony Yeboah found the net in the 41st minute, with Musu recording his second assist of the match.
 
Niagara goalkeeper Jamie Barry made two saves in the losing effort, while Manhattan's Ludvig Malberg recorded five saves to earn the clean sheet.
 
The Purple Eagles' best chances came late in the match, with Dominic Cintra forcing a save from Malberg in the 88th minute during a flurry of late opportunities.
