Buffalo, N.Y.—The Niagara women's tennis team played a pair of dual matches on Saturday as they headed to the UB Invite to face Buffalo and St. Bonaventure. Niagara fell in both matches to their Big Four rivals.
Niagara vs Buffalo (7-0 UB)
Doubles
Coral Rodriguez and Larisa Kotok paired up in the first doubles position. In their match they fell 6-2 to Buffalo.
Jaida Borg and Elena Mayet teamed up in the second doubles spot and forced an extra game but ultimately fell 7-5 to the team from Buffalo.
In third doubles, Enrica Favaron and Mercedes Velasco teamed up for the lone Purple Eagle win as they won 6-3.
Singles
Mayet played in the first singles position, in the opening set she fell 6-0. In the second set she managed to win three games but fell 6-3.
In second singles, Rodriguez dropped her first set 6-4. She couldn't respond in the second set as she fell 6-2.
Kotok continued her freshman season as she fell in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 in third singles.
Borg fell in her first set in fourth singles. In the second set she responded with a 6-4 set win to force a tie breaker set. In the tie breaker she fell 10-6.
Velasco could not bring momentum from doubles into her fifth singles match as she fell 6-1, 6-1 in straight sets.
In sixth singles, Favaron could not take a set as she fell 6-1, 6-1.
Niagara vs St. Bonaventure (6-1 SBU)
Doubles
Rodriguez and Kotok once again paired up in the first doubles position but could not pick up the win as they fell 6-3 in their doubles match.
In the second doubles match, Mayet and Borg teamed up once again. After taking their first match vs Buffalo earlier in the day they forced an extra game against St. Bonaventure but fell 7-5 overall.
Favaron and Velasco looked to pick up their second win of the day but were unable to pick up the victory as they fell 6-3.
Singles
Favaron earned the lone Niagara point against St. Bonaventure as she won 7-5, 6-2 in the sixth singles position.
Mayet played in the first singles position and she was unable to get the win. She fell 6-3, 7-5 in her singles match against St. Bonaventure.
Rodriguez could not pick up a win in her second singles match as she fell 7-6, 6-0.
Kotok fell in the third singles position but fell 6-1, 6-2 against St. Bonaventure.
Borg looked to pick up her first win of the day in fourth singles but fell 7-5, 6-1.
In fifth singles Velasco won her opening set 6-1, in the second set she fell 7-5. In the tie breaking set, she could not take the win as she fell 10-4.

The Purple Eagles return to the court on Sept. 30 as they host Daemen at the Niagara Tennis Courts. The following day they welcome Le Moyne to campus.
