Purple Eagles Draw 0-0 With Red Foxes

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Niagara (2-7-1, 1-1-1 MAAC) and Marist (1-5-3, 1-1-1 MAAC) played to a nil-nil draw Saturday afternoon in MAAC women's soccer action from Niagara Field. Sophomore keeper Agnes Stenlund made six saves in the contest.

How it Happened
Niagara recorded a season-high 10 shots on goal in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Marist.

The Purple Eagles' chances started early with senior Emma Bough recording Niagara's first shot on goal in the eighth minute of play, followed by a shot from freshman Isabella Mazzaferro that would find the crossbar a few moments later.

The game would remain scoreless through 20 minutes of action as Bough had her second shot on goal met by the Marist keeper. Amanda Cripps would fire off three shots in a five-minute span, all of which were off target.

Maia MacLean and Trinity Meinhart would have shots stopped by the Marist keeper, keeping the game scoreless.

In the 41st minute of action, Djeynaba Thiam would break away from the back line and take her first shot of the contest, but the Marist keeper was there once again to make the save. Niagara's final shot of the half would come off the foot of Mazzaferro, but the game would remain scoreless halfway through.

Stenlund saw a total of six shots in the first half, stopping all four that were on target.

In the second half, Stenlund would be tested early, making her fifth save of the contest in the 57th minute of play.

Over the next 10-minutes of the match, Niagara would take five shots, including MacLean's effort that went off the crossbar and shots from Mazzaferro and Cripps that found the Marist keeper.

Marist would try to get one by Stenlund in the 72nd minute, but the Swedish keeper was there to make her sixth and final save of the afternoon to keep Marist off the board.

Cripps would take NU's final shot of the contest in the 74th minute, resulting in the Marist keeper's 10th save.

Raelyn Stranc would step up to thwart a breakaway chance for Marist late in the contest.

In the final 10-seconds of play, the Red Foxes would take a shot from just inside the 18-yard box that would connect with crossbar. Sophia Guagliano would clear the ball out as the final buzzer sound, resulting in a tie between Niagara and Marist.
