Niagara Department of Athletics Announces 67th Hall of Fame Class

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Niagara University Department of Athletics is excited to announce the 2023 Athletics Hall of Fame class. The four-member class will be inducted during a ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Russell J. Salvatore Dining Commons on the campus of Niagara University.

The class includes Bob Dwyer, Teresa Healy, Victoria Rampado, and Jean-Arnaud Tassy.

Dwyer graduated from Niagara University in 1965 and has remained loyal to the Purple Eagles ever since, most notably giving generous donations to the university in 1998 and beyond to expand the on-campus ice arena, now known as Dwyer Arena, and further develop the Niagara hockey programs. Dwyer, a successful businessman prior to his retirement from Morgan Stanley Dean Witter in 1999, was a member of the University Board of Trustees from 1991 through 2010, serving as chairman from 2002-2010 and earning Chairman Emeritus in 2010. Dwyer has received multiple awards from the university, including the Caritas Medal (2015), Alumni Award (2007), Founders Award (2005), and an Honorary Doctorate of Commercial Science (1990), while also receiving the Alumni Award (1991), and being named Affiliates of the Congregation of the Mission (2000) alongside his wife Connie, who is the founder and president of the Connie Dwyer Cancer Center Foundation.

Healy arrived on Monteagle Ridge from Las Vegas, Nev., and would go on to rewrite the softball record book during her four-year career. Playing second base for the Purple Eagles from 2008 to 2011, she was named First Team All-MAAC in each of her four seasons and was twice named MAAC Player of the Year (2010, 2011), becoming the first and only Purple Eagle to win the award twice. Healy remains Niagara Softball's all-time career leader in hits (219), home runs (41), RBI (153), doubles (49), at-bats (557), total bases (457), and runs (147). Following her final season, Healy received the Niagara University Vincent O'Malley C.M. Award and was named MAAC Female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Rampado, a Niagara Falls, Ontario, native, was a women's basketball program standout from 2013-2018. The forward made an immediate impact on the court, earning MAAC Rookie of the Year after averaging 8.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game in her first season. Rampado would earn All-MAAC Second Team honors as a sophomore and redshirt junior, where she led the MAAC in scoring with 16.8 points per game. In her final season at NU, Rampado was named MAAC Player of the Year, becoming the 12th player in MAAC history to earn both MAAC Rookie and Player of the Year honors after averaging 20.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. She became the program's all-time leader in points and rebounds on Feb. 18, 2018, against Monmouth, and currently remains atop both categories with 1,823 points and 909 rebounds.

Tassy was named head coach of the Niagara men's soccer program before the 1974 season and remained at the helm of the Purple Eagles through the 1981 season. The Tassy-led Purple Eagles won 47 games during his eight-year tenure, including five winning seasons with at least seven victories. He left Niagara as the program's winningest coach, a title he held until the mid-2000s. Tassy went on to coach his alma mater Buffalo State from 1982-88, leading the Bengals to three NCAA Tournaments and the University at Buffalo women's team from 1995-2007, where he was named Mid-American Conference Coach of the Year in 2000. Tassy was inducted into the Buffalo State Athletics Hall of Fame in 1988.

More information about the 67th Hall of Fame induction ceremony and how to purchase tickets will be released at a later date.
