Williamsville, N.Y.—The Niagara tennis teams hosted Marist on both the men's and women's side in a crucial MAAC matchup. The men fell 4-3 in the first match of the day while the women won 4-3 over the Red Foxes.
Women's Recap
Doubles

• The Purple Eagles won one of the three doubles matches as Mercedes Velasco and Erika Gonzalez combined for a 7-6 win in second doubles.

Singles

• Gonzalez picked up her second win of the match as she earned a point in third singles. She won the opening set 6-3 and secured the point with a 6-4 win in the second set.
• Velasco was slotted in fourth doubles and picked up her second win of the match as she also won in straight sets. She took the first set 6-1 and then completed the sweep with a 6-3 win.
• Jaida Borg won her match in fifth singles match as she took a 6-2 win in the first set and a 6-1 win in the second set.
• Enrica Favaron secured a point in sixth singled as she won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-4.

Women's Team Notes

• It was just the second time this season that Gonzalez and Velasco paired up for doubles. This was the first win for the duo this season.
• Gonzalez picked up her fifth win of the season, all five wins have came when she has been slotted third. Gonzalez clinched the win for the Purple Eagles with her singles win.
• Velasco also picked up her fifth singles win of the season; she is 2-0 in fourth singles this season.
• Borg notched her fourth win of the season and first win in third singles.
• Favaron earned her fifth win of the season.

Men's Recap
Doubles

• The duo of Tanner Bedard and Trevor Masi earned the lone Purple Eagle win in doubles as they won 6-2 in first doubles.

Singles

• Bedard improved to 3-0 in MAAC play as he won in straight sets in second singles. He won the first set 6-2 and swept the second set 6-0 to secure the point.
• Masi also picked up his win of the day as he won in straight set. In the first set he won 6-2 and won the match in the second set 6-3.
• Gurustat Makkar notched his sixth win of the season as he won in straight sets in sixth singles. He won the first set 6-3 and the second set 6-2.

Men's Team Notes

• Makkar, Bedard, and Masi are all undefeated in MAAC play this season as all three have won their matches against Quinnipiac, Mount St. Mary's, and Marist.
• Masi and Bedard combined for the duos sixth win in doubles this season.
• Bedard is 9-5 this season, he is 8-3 this season in second singles.
• Masi picked up his eighth win of the season, he is 7-2 in third singles and 1-1 in second singles.
• For Makkar it is his sixth win of the season, he is 4-2 in sixth singles this season.
