HAMDEN, Conn. – Despite a late rally in game two of Sunday's doubleheader, Niagara was swept by Quinnipiac to start MAAC play by the final scores of 6-2 and 6-5, respectively.
Game 1 Recap: Niagara 2, Quinnipiac 6
• Freshman
Hailey Cenname reached base on a walk to start the third and with two outs in the inning she would come around to score courtesy of a
Lindsay Mayo triple to left center.
• In the bottom of the third,
Maddie Hickingbottom would allow the tying run to get to second, but the senior right-hander set down the next two batters in order to get out of the inning unscathed.
• In the fourth, Hickingbottom would find herself in a no-out bases loaded jam, leading to the Bobcats taking a 3-1 lead over the Purple and White.
• Quinnipiac would strike for a total of five runs against Hickingbottom in the fourth, taking a 5-1 lead.
• Reliever
Cara Leone would come in to pitch for Niagara in the fifth and immediately give up a triple to right that would later turn into Quinnipiac's sixth run of the contest.
• Following a leadoff double from Mayo,
Samantha Hare would drive in the Purple Eagles' second run of the contest with a double to right-center, giving the game its 6-2 final.
Niagara Notes
• The Purple and White saw its losing streak move to 13 games with the game one loss.
• Mayo collected two hits, her fourth multi-hit game of the season and first since March 4 vs. Utah.
• Hare registered her ninth RBI of the season, her first since March 11 against Iowa State.
Game 2 Recap: Niagara 5, Quinnipiac 6
• Niagara started game two with back-to-back baserunners as Mayo was hit by a pitch and Hare singled up the middle before
Maggie Kellner drove in Mayo for the first run of the ballgame.

Sophia Marrero would move Hare and Kellner up to third and second, respectively, leading to a passed ball that allowed Hare to give NU a 2-0 lead in the first.
• After the Bobcats tied the game at two with one away in the second inning, head coach
Larry Puzan would call on
Julia Thompson to relieve
Riley Crum in the circle after just 1.1 innings pitched.
• Thompson would walk the first batter she faced before allowing a single up the middle to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 lead over Niagara.
• The Bobcats would score two more in the second to take a 5-2 lead before NU recorded the final out of the inning.
• Niagara would cut the Quinnipiac lead in half in the fifth after Cenname drove in Hare, who started the inning with a single, for the third run of the game for the Purple and White.
• Hickingbottom would come in to pitch the fifth for Niagara and promptly strike out the side to get the Purple Eagles back to the plate.
• Kellner would drive in her second and third runs of the game with a two RBI double in the sixth, putting the Purple Eagles down by one, 6-5.
• The Purple and White would go down in order in the seventh.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara's 14-game losing streak is its longest since the team dropped 16-straight in 2016.
• The RBI in the fifth inning was Cenname's second on the season.
• Kellner recorded her first multi-RBI game of the season and first since driving in three vs. Manhattan on May 1, 2022.
