HONOLULU, O'AHU – The Purple Eagles fell to Santa Clara and Utah Saturday afternoon on day three of the Hawaii Spring Fling.
Santa Clara took game one 6-3 and the Utes defeated the Purple and White 13-0 in Niagara's second game of the afternoon.
Game Recap: Niagara 3, Santa Clara 6
• The Purple and White took the lead in the first inning after loading the bases,
Shayna Myshrall singled to drive in
Lindsay Mayo, followed by
Hailey Cenname getting plunked by a pitch to force home
Samantha Hare.
• Niagara would add a third run in the second inning when Mayo drove a single to right center to drive in
Madison LaPenta, before being thrown at second.
• In the bottom of the second Santa Clara would tie the game at 3-3 with a three-run home run off of
Maddie Hickingbottom.

Cara Leone would come in to pitch in the fourth inning, allowing Santa Clara to take a three-run advantage.
• Niagara would go down in order in the fifth, sixth and seventh, giving Santa Clara the 6-3 win.
Niagara Notes
• The Purple and White fall to 1-2 at the Hawaii Spring Fling.
• In 3.0 innings of work, Hickingbottom struck out five and walked five.
• Leone was credited with the loss, falling to 0-2 on the season.
• Hare and LaPenta each stole a bag in the contest.
• Mayo led the team with a pair of hits, extending her hit streak to seven games.
Game Recap: Utah 13, Niagara 0
• Utah started the contest with four runs in the opening inning off Niagara starter
Sage Jackson. She would later be replaced in the second inning by
Riley Crum.
• Niagara would get runners on first and second with one away in the first, but could not push across a run to cut into the Utah lead.
• The Utes would score on a fielder's choice to make it 5-0 and then, with the bases loaded, hit a grand slam to go up by nine with no outs in the inning.
• Crum would rebound and set down the next three batters to get out of the inning and go 1-2-3 in the third to get the Purple Eagles back to the plate.
• Utah would score a run in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 13-0 lead over Niagara.
Niagara Notes
• Mayo extended her hit streak to eight games with a leadoff single in the first. The sophomore also recorded her third multi-hit game of the season.
• After allowing the grand slam, Crum set down six-straight batters.

Emma Collee made her first appearance in the circle for Niagara this season and first since April 5, 2022 vs. YSU.
