Women's Tennis Defeats Bearcats On The Road

Binghamton, N.Y.—The Niagara women's tennis made the trip across the state to face Binghamton for a non-conference dual match.
Match Recap
Doubles
  • The duo of Madigan Humiston and Coral Rodriguez won in third doubles as they took down the Bearcats 7-5.
  • Niagara fell in doubles one 6-4 and 6-1 in second doubles as the Bearcats took the doubles point.
Singles
  • The Purple Eagles took their first win in singles as Jaida Borg won in straight sets. She took the first set 6-2 and earned the first Purple Eagle point.
  • In fourth singles, Mercedes Velasco won her match in straight sets, she won the opening set 6-3. In the second set, Velasco won six straight games to win the match.
  • After falling in the first set of her fifth singles match, Enrica Favaron ended up taking the win after her opponent was forced to retire due to injury. Favaron was up 4-1 prior to the retirement.
  • Humiston won in sixth doubles as she earned a valuable point for the Purple Eagles. She opened the match with a 6-2 win in the first set and secured the win with a 6-3 win in the second set.
Niagara Notes
  • The Purple Eagles improved to 3-3 on the season and have now won their two of their last three matches.
  • The win over the Bearcats was the first win over a Division I opponent this season.
  • Humiston won in both of her matches on the day, she was the lone Purple Eagle to do so.
