Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

Niagara Faces Bona and Le Moyne

Olean, N.Y.—The Niagara men's tennis team traveled to Olean, N.Y. to compete against Le Moyne and St. Bonaventure in a non-traditional pair of dual matches. It was a blind dual format that saw single sets being played to just four with the tie breaker played to 10.

First Match vs Le Moyne

Doubles

Gurustat Makkar and Rohan Srivastava were the lone Purple Eagles to win their doubles match, they won their match 7-6 as they won the tiebreaker.

Tanner Bedard and Bryce Bodak were paired up in first doubles and fell 6-3 in their match.

Roberto Vaca and Vid Maric played in the second doubles position; they could not notch a win as they fell 6-2 in their match.

Singles

Bedard was tabbed in the first singles position. He won the first set 4-3 before securing the win with a 4-2 win in the second set.

Maric looked to build on his freshman season as he was in the second singles position. He won the opening set 4-1 and notched the straight set win as he won the second set 4-0.

Bodak played in the third singles match and could not pick up a win. He fell in the opening set 4-2 and then fell 4-0 in the second set.

Manuel Alonso drew the fourth singles position, he won the opening set 4-3. In the second set he fell 4-1 which forced a tiebreaker, in the tiebreaker he fell 10-3.

Makkar was slotted in the fifth singles position. He fell in straight sets, 4-2, 4-2.

Salvador Vazquez closed out singles for Niagara as he was in the sixth singles position. After falling in the first set, 4-1, he took the second set 4-1 to force a tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker he won in convincing fashion, 10-3.

Second Match vs St. Bonaventure

Doubles

Bedard and Bodak won their doubles match against the Bonnies in the first doubles position. The duo won 6-2 in their match.

Makkar and Srivastava took the third doubles match for the Purple Eagles as they won 6-3 over the team from St. Bonaventure.

Vaca and Maric fell in their second doubles match 6-2.

Singles

Bedard competed his 2-0 singles day as he won both his sets by a score of 4-1 to take the win in first singles.

Maric won the first set of his second singles match but fell in the second set 4-1. The tiebreaker set was back and forth but Maric fell 10-8.

Alonso was tabbed in the third singles position. He fell 4-3 in the opening set but forced a tiebreaker as he won the second set 4-2. He could not take the win as he fell 10-3 in the tiebreaker.

Makkar picked up a win in the fourth singles spot. He won the first set 4-1 before earning a 4-3 win in the second set.

After falling 4-0 in the first set of the fifth singles match, Vaca forced a tiebreaker as he won the second set 4-1. He could not secure the win as he fell 10-4 in the third set.

Srivastava went three sets in the sixth singles position. He fell in the opening set 4-1, but responded in the second set with a 4-2 win. In a close third set, he could not pick up the win as he fell 11-9.
