Purple Eagles Shutout Manhattan

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY The Niagara (4-5-0, 1-1-0) women's soccer program defeated the visiting Manhattan Jaspers Saturday afternoon by a final score of 3-0. Annie Ibey, Emma Bough, and Ebba Noren found the back of the net and Agnes Stenlund picked up her first career clean sheet in the win.
 
Game Recap
First Half
• Niagara opened the scoring in the fourth minute of action when Bough found Ibey for the goal.
• The duo would team up once again in the 30th minute, this team Ibey found Bough for the Purple Eagle score.
• Noren found the back of the net in the final five minutes of the first half when Zoe Janes and Lauren DiPietro connected with the sophomore for NU's third and final tally of the contest.
• Niagara took a total of nine shots in the first half of play.
 
Second Half
• The Purple Eagles kept their foot on the gas in the second half, opening the frame with two shots, the first from Claudia Cuicani, followed by one from Maia MacLean.
• Niagara would out-shoot the Jaspers in the second half, 5-1, with two going on goal.
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara improves to 12-7-4 all-time against the Jaspers.
• NU has outscored Manhattan 6-1 in the last two meetings.
• Ibey now has 23 career goals after her third goal of the season Saturday afternoon. The fifth year also has a team-best nine points on the season.
• Bough's goal in the 30th minute was her first tally since the season-opener against Buffalo. She also recorded her second assist on the year in the win.
• Noren's goal was the first of her career.
• Stenlund made one save for her first career clean sheet.
