NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Purple Eagles split Saturday's doubleheader with Saint Peter's winning game two 3-2 in the bottom of the seventh. Niagara moves to 13-21 overall and 7-7 in league play and the Peacocks are now 18-27 overall and 4-8 in the MAAC.
Game 1 Recap
• Saint Peter's opened the scoring in the top of the first with an RBI single to take a early 1-0 lead.
• Niagara tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the third with an RBI double from
Maggie Vesneske.
Hannah Mingle scored on the play.
• The Peacocks would score one in the fourth and another in the fifth to earn the 3-1 win.

Riley Crum got the start for Niagara, pitching allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out five in 5.0 innings of work.

Cara Leone pitched two innings in relief of Crum, allowing just one hit and punching out three.
• Niagara recorded two hits in game one, a single by
Hannah Mingle and the double by Vesneske.
Game 2 Recap

Maggie Kellner put Niagara up 1-0 in the bottom of the first with an RBI double to left, scoring
Kaity McInall from second on the play.
• Saint Peter's would put up a two spot in the third to take a 2-1 lead over NU.
• Niagara tied the game in the bottom of the sixth when
Shayna Myshrall singled to right to score
Samantha Hare from second.

Bayleigh McCullough singled with one out in the seventh to put the game-winning run on first for NU. The freshman would move into scoring position after a ground out by Vesneske.
• With two outs, McInall singled to center field, allowing McCullough to advance to third, however a Saint Peter's error on the play, McCullough scored the game winner to salvage a split of the series with Saint Peter's.
• Niagara tallied nine hits in the win.

Maddie Hickingbottom pitched 6.1 innings for the Purple Eagles, striking out eight while allowing two runs on six hits.

Julia Thompson got the win in game two after coming in with one out in the top of the seventh and retiring the two batters she saw.
Niagara Notes
• Thompson now has four wins out the pen for NU.
• Hare went 3-for-3 in game two and is now nine for her last 20 at the plate.
• Hickingbottom is one strikeout shy of the 100 K mark after fanning eight in her start today.
• Kellner hit her 13
th double of the season and collected her 15
th RBI of the season.
• Niagara is 15-1 in the last 16 meetings with SPU.
