NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. - For the first time in program history, the Niagara women's golf team will be taking a spring break practice trip to Florida.
"This trip is an extraordinary opportunity for our team," said head coach
Selena Borek. "As a Northern school, we enter our championship season quickly and without much time outside due to weather. This week, we will be fine-tuning our game in the same conditions we will play the MAAC Championships in; Florida heat, Bermuda grass and high physical demands. This experience is crucial to jump-starting our games and completely shaking off any winter rust from our swings. I am thrilled for the girls, our program and what the future may bring because of it. Thank you to our wonderful golf alumni and supporters who donated to our program to make this trip happen."
The team is set to arrive in Florida on Wednesday, March 16 and start training activities on Thursday, March 17.
On Thursday, the Purple Eagles will work-out on the beach before heading to International Links Golf Club in Miami to do range work with their wedges and short irons.
On Friday March 18, the team will head back to the course to work on their short game, putting, chipping and sand game.
Niagara will practice with their drivers, woods and short irons on Saturday and continue to work on their short game.
Before returning to Niagara, the team will have one more practice session on Sunday, March 20.
The Purple Eagles officially opens the spring season at the Northern Kentucky Spring Invitational March 28-29.
