Niagara Beats Siena for Second-Straight Road Win

LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – Niagara (9-12, 6-7 MAAC) completed the season-sweep of Siena (6-12, 6-6 MAAC) with a 65-58 win Monday night from in MAAC women's basketball action from the UHY Center.  
 
Aaliyah Parker went 7-for-12 from the field to finish with a game-high 19 points, followed by her sister Angel Parker, who recorded 17 points, four assists, and three steals. Olivia Mason added a team-high 10 rebounds while scoring eight points.
 
Game Recap
First Quarter
• Niagara started the game 1-for-10 from the field, leading to an 8-3 lead for Siena. 
• At the first quarter media timeout (4:34), the Purple Eagles were down three, 8-5. 
Lore Porter made it an 8-7 game with a layup after the media timeout. 
• The Purple Eagles and Saints would trade baskets for the final four minutes of action, leading to a slim 14-13 lead for Siena after 10-minutes of action. 
• Six of Niagara's 13 first-quarter points came from nine Siena turnovers. 
Saige Glover had a team-high five points after one-quarter of play. 
 
Second Quarter
• Niagara opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run, giving the Purple Eagles a 20-14 lead over the Saints, who would call timeout with 7:04 on the clock. 
• The Niagara lead would grow to nine, 25-16, after a 3-pointer from Kyra Grimshaw at the 6:08 mark. 
• Niagara would call timeout with 3:51 on the clock after Siena pulled within five, 26-21.
• The Purple and White would go on an 8-3 run to close the first half and head into the locker room with a 37-26 lead over Siena. 
• Niagara forced 20 first-half turnovers, scoring 18 points as a result. 
• Aaliyah went into the locker room with 11 points, while Olivia Mason scored six first-half points and led the Purple Eagles with six boards. 
 
Third Quarter
• Aaliyah hit a triple to give NU a 39-26 lead 39 seconds into the second half of play.
• Niagara had a 42-33 advantage at the media timeout (4:57). The Purple Eagles had five points in the quarter, all of which were scored by Aaliyah.
• A 3-pointer from Angel Parker gave Niagara its largest lead of the night, 47-33, with 4:09 remaining in the third. 
• The Purple Eagles would build its lead to 15, 55-40, by the end of the quarter 
• Angel scored nine points in the third to pace the NU offense that shot 4-for-8 from the field and 7-for-12 at the line in the frame. 
 
Fourth Quarter
Brooklyn Jones connected on a 3-point field goal to start the fourth and make the score 58-40, in favor of the Purple Eagles. 
• After four straight from the Saints, Niagara would connect on a layup of its own to go back up 16, 60-44, with just over five minutes left.
• Siena would outscore Niagara 12-3 over the next 4:42 to pull within seven, 63-56. 
• Niagara would hold on for the 65-58 win and complete the season sweep of the Saints.   
 
Niagara Notes
• Niagara has swept the Saints for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
• Aaliyah was two rebounds shy of her third double-double of the season. 
• Mason recorded a team-high 10 boards, her third game with double-digit rebounds. 
• Niagara forced 32 Siena turnovers, resulting in 23 points for the Purple and White. Niagara now has five games with 30 or more forced turnovers. 
• The Purple Eagles finished with 38 points in the paint, 14 bench points, and 10-second chance points. 
• Niagara finished the game shooting 40.7 from the field, its seventh game of the season shooting 40.0 percent or better. 
• Niagara had 11 assists on the night, with Angel recording a team-high four. 
• Glover matched her career-high with five points. 
• All nine Purple Eagles who took the court scored at least two points. 
Lore Porter finished with a career-best five steals.
