JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Junior
Angel Parker recorded a double-double with 25 points and 11 steals, but the Purple Eagles fell to Saint Peter's, 74-68 Thursday night in MAAC women's basketball action from Run Baby Run Arena.
Niagara drops to 12-14 overall and 9-9 in conference action while the Peacock's improve to 12-14 overall and 9-8 in league play.
Game Recap
First Quarter
• An early 6-0 run by the Peacocks forced Niagara to call timeout at the 4:56 mark of the first.
•
Saige Glover would end the Peacocks run and make the score 10-6 following the timeout.
•
Angel Parker made it a 10-8 game with a jump shot of her own following a steal.
• Niagara ended the quarter with a five-point swing to pull within two, 17-15.
Second Quarter
•
Ally Haar would give Niagara a 20-17 lead with a 3-pointer, capping off a 10-0 run for the Purple Eagles.
• Saint Peter's would use a 6-0 run of its own to retake the lead, 23-20.
• The Peacocks would end up scoring 10 unanswered before
Lore Porter connected on a layup to make the score 27-24.
• A 3-pointer by the Peacocks made the score 32-24 and forced NU to call timeout with 2:46 remaining in the first half.
• With 1:45 on the clock, Angel would connect on her second 3-pointer of the contest, putting Niagara down 34-29.
• Saint Peter's would go into the half with a 36-29 lead over the Purple Eagles.
Third Quarter
• Saint Peter's started the third on a 5-0 run giving the Peacocks its largest lead, 41-29.

Olivia Mason would etch her name into the scoring column, ending the SPU run and putting Niagara down ten, 41-31.
• A quick 7-0 swing by Niagara trimmed the Saint Peter's advantage to five, 45-50. The spurt by NU forced the Peacocks to call timeout.
• From the 3:08 mark to the 1:50 mark of the quarter, Niagara used a 6-0 run, most of which came from the line and helped the Purple Eagles pull within two, 51-49.
• The Peacocks would hold on to a four-point lead after three despite Niagara having its best offensive quarter scoring 22 points and shooting 43 percent from the floor.
Fourth Quarter
• The first 2:31 of the fourth saw SPU take a 61-54 lead over the Purple Eagles.
• A layup by
Lore Porter made it a four-point game, 65-61, with 4:03 to go.
• On its next possession, Niagara would make it a 65-63 game thanks to a jumper from Glover.
• With 1:11 remaining in the contest, Niagara would be down four, 69-65.
• Saint Peter's would score five of the game's final eight points to win 74-68.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara now has 349 steals on the season, surpassing the previous single-season record of 337 set during the 1989-90 season.
• With 4:08 left in the contest, Angel picked up her 11th steal of the contest, setting the new single-game record. The junior surpassed Jennifer Pasternak's record of 10 set on Dec. 3, 1993.
• Angel is now one of three NCAA women's basketball players to record 11 steals in a game this season. She becomes the seventh player to record a double-double (points/steals) this season and the first since Norfolk State's Camille Downs on Jan. 24.
• The Purple Eagles scored 22 points off 26 Saint Peter's turnovers.
• As a team, Niagara grabbed 29 boards, with
Aaliyah Parker collecting a team-best six boards.

Ally Haar added 12 points, her 13th game this season with 10 or more points.
