BUFFALO, NY – Niagara picked up seven top-three finishes between the men's and women's team and after three days of competition the Purple Eagles are atop the women's standings with 431.5 points, 6.5 points ahead of Fairfield, while the men are currently in sixth place with a total of 239 points.
Katrina Wardner picked up the Niagara women's third gold of the weekend with a victory in the 200 free. The grad student finished with a NCAA B-Cut time of 1:51.87. Wardner was also a member of the women's 400 relay team that picked up a third place finish with a time of 3:51.16. The quartet also included
Paige South,
Amanda Silva, and
Moana Houde-Camirand.
The evening session started with the women's 100 fly and
Zoe Gavin finished sixth overall with a time of 57.19, followed by the men's 100 fly and
Kevin Vu placing third with a time of 48.86.
Megan Smith placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:28.07 while teammate
Kathryn Brady finished fifth in the A-Final with a time of 4:31.91.
Houde Camirand also swam in the 200 free A-Final, placing third with a time of 1:53.91, three seconds off Wardner's first-place time.
In the men's 200 free
Reid Tichy and
Nathan Dragon finished fourth and eighth with times of 1:39.29 and 1:41.12, respectively.
Silva and Brady finished third and fourth in the 100 back, clocking in at 1:05.40 and 1:05.61.
Paige South placed seventh in the women's 100 breast, finishing with a time of 57.73.
In diving,
Sydney Sarkis finished tied for second with a score of 219.45 on the 3-meter board, while teammate Morgan MacMahon placed eighth with 176.35 points.
The men's 400 free relay closed the Purple Eagles evening with a sixth-place finish, clocking in at 3:21.32. The team included
Reid Tichy,
Tanner Isaacs, Vu and
Levi Morgan.
