NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Purple Eagles picked up a 3-0 win over Mount St. Mary's on Senior Day Saturday afternoon in MAAC women's soccer action from Niagara Field. Niagara improves to 6-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in MAAC play with the win.
Game Recap
First Half
• Senior
Clara Bornet made a highlight reel save in the 7th minute of action to keep Mount off the board.
• In the ninth minute of play, Niagara's
Nikki van Wees tapped one home to give the Purple Eagles an early one goal advantage.
Emma Bough and
Annie Ibey were credited with assists on the play.
• Bornet made another save to keep Niagara up by one goalin the 12th minute.
•
Agnes Stenlund would come in to replace Bornet in the 19th minute of play with NU up 1-0.
• Ibey would find the back of the net in the 31st minute of play to give the Purple and White a 2-0 lead.
• Eight minutes later, Niagara's
Djeynaba Thiam gave the Purple and White a 3-0 lead after getting past a pair of defenders and launching one into the top left portion of the goal.
Second Half
• Stenlund would make a pair of saves in the 60th and 61st minute of play to keep NU up by three.
• Bough and Emily Hähnel put shots on target in the 80th minute to try and make it a four-goal contest, but came up empty.

Alexis Horwedel would record her lone shot of the night in the 89th minute but the attempt went wide.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara is now unbeaten in ts last four minutes, shutting out its opponents in each contest.
• Ibey's goal was the 25th of her career and fifth of the season. The graduate student is now two goals away from tying Lynda Hughes and Lynn. Hepworth for seventh all-time.
• With two saves today, Bornet moves into sole possession of ninth all-time with 51 career saves.
• Niagara recorded its sixth shutout of the season Saturday, the most in program history.
• van Wees' goal in the first half was the seniors first of the season.
• Thiam recorded her second tally of the season.
• Bough now leads the Purple Eagles with four assists.
