Unbeaten Streak Moves to Six as Niagara Tops Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ Zoe Janes scored on a PK in the 76th minute to lift Niagara over Rider Saturday afternoon on the road in MAAC women's soccer action. 
 
Game Recap
First Half
Katie Diem took the game's first shot on goal in the seventh minute, bit the Rider goalie was there for the stop.
Emma Bough also took a shot on goal that was saved by the Bronc keeper in the first half.
Annie Ibey looked to add to her goal total in the 16th minute, but her attempt went high. She would get another chance in the 19th minute, this one saved by the Bronc keeper.
• Bough would again test the Bronc goalie in the 27th minute but her shot would be stopped to keep the game scoreless.
• Niagara's starting goalie Agnes Stenlund was finally tested in the 28th minute when she made her first save of the contest.
• She would make her second save of the game in the 35th minute of play, stopping a shot low center.
Ebba Noren would take the Purple Eagles' final shot of the half but the game would go into the break at nil-nil.
 
Second Half
• Niagara would take a pair of shots in the first 20-minutes of the half, one from Raelyn Stranc and the other from Maia MacLean. Emily Hahnel would also put a shot on goal before in the 71st minute but it was saved.
• In the 76th minute, following a Rider foul in the box, Zoe Janes would beat the Rider goalie on the PK to give Niagara a 1-0 lead.
• Stenlund would keep NU up 1-0 with a save in the 81st minute, her lone save of the half.
Ida Miceli would miss high for the Purple and White's last shot of the contest.  
 
Niagara Notes
• The Purple Eagles have won five-straight following Saturday's 1-0 win over Rider. THe Purple Eagles have not lost a game since Sept. 17 at Quinnipiac. 
• Janes' goal on the PK was the second of her career.
• Niagara has not allowed a goal since the 83rd minute of its contest with Quinnipiac back on Sept. 17.
• Stenlund recorded her third clean sheet of the season. She has now been a part of four shutouts on the year.
• Niagara now has eight clean sheets on the season, the most since its record-setting 2014 season where it finished with 10.
