Fairfield Defeats Niagara, 81-64

NIAGARA UNIV., NY – The visiting Fairfield Stags (8-5, 5-0 MAAC) defeated the Niagara Purple Eagles (5-7, 2-2 MAAC) by the final score of 81-64 Thursday afternoon in MAAC women's basketball action from the Gallagher Center. 

Angel Parker finished with a team-high 14 points, four assists, and three steals, while Fairfield's Lou Lopez Senechal finished with a game-high 24 points on 10-for-18 shooting. 
 
Game Recap 
First Quarter
• Fairfield and Niagara traded leads a total of five times in the first quarter, with the Purple Eagles leading at the end of the frame 18-15.
Angel Parker scored five of her 14 points in the first quarter. The junior went 1-for-3 from the field, including 1-for-1 from beyond the arc and 2-for-2 from the line.
• Niagara's largest lead of the game, 16-11, came in the first quarter following Sydney Faulcon's two free throws. 
• In the quarter, Niagara went 5-for-10 from the floor, 3-for-5 from 3-point land, and 5-for-6 at the line. 

Second Quarter
• Fairfield dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Purple and White 26-9 in the frame. 
Olivia Mason scored six of NU's nine points in the second quarter. She would go on to finish with 10 points. 
• The Stags shot 71.4 percent from the field in the second, including 80.0 percent from downtown.
• Fairfield went into the locker room with a 41-27 advantage. 

Third Quarter
• Niagara turned it on out of the break, going on an 17-4 through the first 4:58 of the quarter. 
• During the run, Lore Porter connected on back-to-back 3-pointers that helped the Purple Eagles trim the lead to one, 45-44. 
• As a team, the Purple Eagles went 6-for-13 from the field during its best offensive outburst of the contest for Niagara. 
• In the last 4:18 of the third, Niagara was outscored 12-7 by Fairfield, giving the Stags a 57-51 lead heading into the fourth. 

Fourth Quarter
• The Stags outscored the Purple and White 24-13 in the fourth quarter.
• The Purple Eagles were 3-for-14 from the field and 6-for-6 from the charity stripe.
• After the Stags took a 69-57 lead, Ally Haar connected on a 3-pointer to pull NU back within nine with 5:57 left.
• That would be as close as NU would get as Fairfield scored 12 of the game's final 19 points, with eight from Lopez-Senechal.

Niagara Notes
• Niagara took a season-high 28 3-pointers today, tying the season-best with nine makes. Haar and Porter each made three 3-pointers.
• The Purple Eagles also had a season-high 18 assists, with eight players recording at least one. Parker and Maddy Yelle each recorded four. 
• Three Purple Eagles recorded double-digits, led by Parkers 14, Haar with 11, and Olivia Mason with 10. 
Kyra Grimshaw finished with a team-best six rebounds, followed by Mason and Aaliyah Parker with five boards. 
• Porter played 22 minutes off the bench, recording nine points and three rebounds.

• Niagara will look to get back on track when it takes on Rider this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. from the Gallagher Center.
