Women’s Soccer Welcomes Duquesne to Niagara Field Thursday Night

GAME 5 – Niagara (3-1-0) vs. Duquesne (2-1-1)
NIAGARA UNIV., NY – The Niagara women's soccer team looks to add to its three-game win streak Thursday night when the Purple Eagles welcome Duquesne to Niagara Field for a 7 p.m. kickoff.

Series Notes
• Thursday will mark the 11th meeting between the Purple Eagles and Dukes. Duquesne has a 5-3-2 lead in the series.
• Niagara is 2-2-1 at home against the Dukes, including a 1-0 overtime win in 2013, the last time Duquesne was on Monteagle Ridge.

Last Time Out
• Niagara defeated Cleveland State 3-0 on Sunday to improve to 3-1 on the young season.
• Freshman Maia MacLean led the Niagara attack with two goals, while Florence Vaillancourt added one tally in the shutout win.
Felicia Grufman started the match for the Purple and White, making three saves in 70 minutes of action.

MacLean Named MAAC Rookie of the Week
• Freshman midfielder Maia MacLean was named MAAC Rookie of the week following her performances against Cornell and Cleveland State.
• The Niagara Falls, Ontario, product registered one assist against Cornell and followed that up with two goals in Sundays 3-0 win over Cleveland State.
• MacLean is the first women's soccer player to be named rookie of the week since Ibey earned the honor in her first season on Monteagle Ridge.

Niagara Notes
Florence Vaillancourt leads Niagara with five goals, four assists and 14 points. The junior recorded her first career hat trick in Niagara's 4-2 win over Syracuse on Aug. 26.
Annie Ibey and MacLean are tied for second on the squad with three goals apiece. Ibey scored three times in Niagara's 5-2 win over Cornell last Thursday.
Emma Davies and Emma Bough have three assists apiece through four games, while four other Purple Eagles have one helper on the season.
Djeynaba Thiam has scored twice, once at Syracuse and again at Cornell.
