EDISON, NJ - Niagara women's soccer freshman
Maia MacLean has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the third time this season, as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.
MacLean was the difference maker in the Purple Eagles win over Manhattan on Saturday as the midfielder scored twice, helping the team extend its win streak to eight games. The Niagara Falls, Ontario, native scored the games first goal as she headed in a rebound to put Niagara up 1-0. MacLean would score her second goal of the game in the 87th minute to seal the 3-1 win for the Purple and White.Â
MacLean is second on the team and fourth in the MAAC with six goals on the season. The midfielder has recorded two multi-goal games, including in Saturday's win over Manhattan.
Niagara has won eight-straight games, matching the programs best win streak set back in 2005 when the Purple Eagles won eight-in-a-row during a 11 game unbeaten streak.
