CHARLOTTE, N.C – The Purple Eagles (2-5-0) fell to Charlotte (4-2-0), 2-1, in their final non-conference contest of the season on Sunday.

Game Recap
  • Josh Tufino had a chance for the Purple Eagles in the 20th minute, sending a shot towards the top right corner of the net, but it was saved by the 49ers' keeper.
  • Charlotte scored in the 25th minute to take a 1-0 lead over the Purple Eagles.
  • In the 31st minute, Nuukele Gboe scored the equalizer.
  • Less than two minutes later, the 49ers scored their second goal to take a 2-1 lead over NU.
  • Stephen Hasse created a scoring opportunity for the Purple Eagles in the 74th minute, but his shot was saved.
  • Tufino took the final shot of the game for Niagara in the 86th minute, but the Charlotte keeper got the save and the 49ers defeated the Purple Eagles, 2-1.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Gboe's goal was his second of the season. He led the Purple Eagles with three total shots.
  • Tufino had a team-best two shots on goal.
  • Josh Savoni played the second half in goal and made four saves.

Coach's Corner
  • "The guys made progress tonight against a tournament team," said head coach Bill Boyle. "I'm very proud of their effort and they set the bar to work towards. Charlotte is a great barometer for us and we know we can get there."
