Purple Eagles To Compete At MAAC Championships This Weekend

The Niagara University women's track and field team will compete in the 2021 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships this weekend to conclude its season.

REGULAR SEASON RECAP

Niagara placed a program record 16 Purple Eagles on the MAAC All-Academic Team announced on May 5.
Niagara finished second at the UB Twilight on April 23 finishing aheading of Siena, Daemen, and Canisius.
- Emma Bagnato broke her school record in the 400m (57.73) en route to a second-place finish and had a second-place finish in the 200m with a time of 26.83.
- Lauren McGrath set a school record in the 100m hurdles, breaking her record with a time of 15.66 for a third-place finish.
- The team of Haleigh Foster, Emily Oliverio, Lauren McGrath, and Jahnyl Donaldson-Howden placed third in the 4x100m with a season-best time of 48.94.
- Niagara finished second (4:24.81) in the 4x400m with the team of Amani Scott, Kate Pratt, Nora Klinowski, and Erin Murray.
- Julia Rak collected a second place finish (10.71m) in the triple jump.
The Purple Eagles placed second out of six teams at the University at Buffalo Mid-Week on March 24.
- Nora Klinowski won the 800m race with a time of 2:28.34.
- Julia Rak set a school record in the triple jump, posting a 10.77 on her third attempt to place second in the event.
- Haleigh Foster finished sixth with a time of 13.34 to earn three points in the 100m.
- Amani Scott led the Purple Eagles with a fifth-place finish (1:03.68) in the 400m.
- In the long jump, Aqe'lah Douglas placed fourth after recording a 4.78 on her third attempt.
- Kiara McDowell set a PR (12.28) in the shot put to finish second and also placed second in the discus (35.46).
NU placed fourth at the UB Invitational on April 17. The Purple Eagles earned 64 points in 10 of the 19 scoring events.
- Standout performances were by freshman Jahnyl Donaldson-Howden with a second place finish in the 200 and placing third in the 100m, and school records setting numbers by Emma Bagnato and Lauren McGrath.
