BUFFALO, N.Y. –The Purple Eagles fell to Canisius in both games of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Game Recap
  • Canisius got on the board in the bottom of the second after an RBI single to take a 1-0 lead over the Purple Eagles.
  • The Griffs added seven runs in the bottom of the third, including four off a grand slam, to extend their lead, 8-0.
  • Rachel Funk had NU's first hit of the game in the top of the fourth, singling to right center field.
  • In the top of the fifth with one out on the board, Kaity McInall singled up the middle, but the next two Purple Eagles were retired and the Griffs earned the 8-0 shutout win.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Funk and McInall had Niagara's two hits.
  • Riley Crum (5-7) took the loss in the circle. She struck out one and gave up eight earned runs on eight hits in 3.0 innings pitched.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles got on the board in the top of the first inning. An RBI double from Maggie Kellner scored Kelsey Harrigan. Kellner then scored on an error by the Griffs' catcher to give NU a 2-0 lead.
  • An RBI single from Harrigan in the top of the second extended Niagara's lead over Canisius, 3-0.
  • The Griffs, however, had a monster fourth inning, scoring nine runs to take the lead, 9-3.
  • Canisius added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to win the game, 11-3.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Harrigan led the Purple Eagles in hits with three. Kellner, McInall, Heather Haberman and Samantha Hare each added one hit.
  • Harrigan and Haberman each had one stolen base.
  • Julia Thompson (1-5) took the loss. Thompson fanned three and allowed six earned runs on seven hits in 3.0 innings pitched.
