NU Wins Season Series With The Peacocks

JERSEY CITY, N.Y. – The Purple Eagles earned a dominant earned a dominant 13-4 victory over Saint Peter's on Sunday to win their season series with the Peacocks. The Peacocks forfeited the fourth scheduled game in the series and Niagara improved to 12-6 on the season.

Game Recap
  • The Peacocks took a 2-0 lead in the first inning after a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly.
  • In the top of the second inning, a two-RBI double from Michael Gabriele tied the score, 2-2.
  • Saint Peter's added two more runs in the bottom of the third to reclaim the lead, 4-2. Niagara, however, absolutely dominated the remainder of the game.
  • In the top of the fifth, Dawson Bailey had time to score when an error was committed by the Peacocks' pitcher, leaving the Purple Eagles trailing by just one run, 4-3.
  • An RBI double from Mike Brisson in the top of the sixth tied the score once again, 4-4.
  • The Purple Eagle bats were hot in the seventh inning; RBI doubles from Gabriele and Cole O'Connor, a two-RBI double from Cole Tucker and an RBI single from Spencer Marcus put Niagara in the lead, 9-4.
  • A sacrifice fly from Gabriele and an RBI single from Joe Tevlin in the eighth added two more runs for the Purple Eagles, extending their lead, 11-4.
  • An RBI double from O'Connor and an RBI single from Tucker in the ninth added the final two runs of the game for the Purple Eagles.

Eagle's Eye On
  • O'Connor had a team-high four hits, tying his career-high. Three of O'Connor's hits were doubles.
  • Max Giordano, Tucker, Gabriele, Tevlin and Marcus each added two hits.
  • Gabriele led the team in RBIs with four.
  • Giordano and Marcus each had one stolen base.
  • Zach Cameron (2-1) earned the win. He struck out three and gave up just two hits in 3.0 innings pitched.

  • The Purple Eagles wrap up their season series with crosstown rival Canisius on Wednesday, April 14. Niagara will host the Griffs for a doubleheader, starting at 1:00 p.m., at Bobo Field.
