NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles extended their winning streak to three games as they shutout Manhattan, 2-0, on Thursday.

Game Recap
  • The Purple Eagles had two early chances, with back-to-back shots from Rodrigo Almeida and Nuukele Gboe within the first four minutes of the game.
  • In the 10th minutes of the first period, Stephen Hasse placed a beautiful ball that Almeida put into the net to give the Purple Eagles a 1-0 lead.
  • In the second period, Luca Pacheco took three strong shots, but none found their mark.
  • In the 85th minute, Ali Alomari scored his first collegiate goal to give the Purple Eagles a 2-0 lead.
  • Pacheco took another shot to the bottom center of the net in the 87th minute, but it was saved by Manhattan's keeper.
  • Josh Savoni made a save at the end of the period to earn his second straight clean sheet.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Pacheco took a team-high five shots. Almeida took four and Nuukele Gboe took three.
  • Almeida, Alomari and Goncalo Verissimo each had two shots on goal.
  • Savoni (3-1) made four saves in 90 minutes.

Coach's Corner
  • "Today the guys and fought and scrapped for the win," said head coach Bill Boyle. "Manhattan is a good team and threatened to get back in the game. We were able to bend, but not break, and that is the sign of a team that is starting to know how to win. We are looking forward to going down to play the defending regular season champions away at Saint Peter's."
