JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The Niagara men's soccer team defeated the defending MAAC regular season champions, Saint Peter's, 2-1 on Saturday. It was Niagara's fourth straight win, which is the team's longest winning streak since before the 2003 season.

Game Recap
  • Saint Peter's scored first, taking a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute of the first period.
  • In the 25th minutes, Gabriel Mikina scored a penalty kick goal to tie the score, 1-1.
  • The Purple Eagles and Peacocks battled, but Jordan Acevedo scored the game-winning goal in the 84th minute.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Acevedo and Jayson Repine led the Purple Eagles with two shots each.
  • Both of Acevedo's shots were on goal.
  • Josh Savoni (4-1) made five saves in 90 minutes.

  • "This team keep on growing with every game," said head coach Bill Boyle. "I'm so proud of the grit and determination; they've proved to themselves that they can beat anybody. We are going to enjoy this win for Easter Sunday. Beating the defending regular season champs was not easy!"
