Women’s Soccer Begins Season At Canisius Tuesday

The Niagara Purple Eagles begin their season at archrival Canisius in the latest installment of the Battle of Bridge.  

Scene Setter
  • Niagara starts its six-game conference-only regular season on March 9 at Canisius. The MAAC Championships will begin on April 9 with the quarterfinals round. The semifinals will be held on April 12 and the championship game will be on April 16. All games will be hosted by the higher seed.
  • Niagara and Canisius have played to draws in the last three meetings, including a scoreless tilt last season.
  • The Purple Eagles, who lead the all-time series, are in search of their first win in the series since the 2015 season.
  • Niagara is 6-2-2 in its last 10 trips to Canisius.
     
Kickoff Tidbits
  • The 2019 Purple Eagles went 9-8-2 overall and defeated Rider in the MAAC Tournament to advance to the semifinals where they lost to defending champion Monmouth.
  • The Purple Eagles return 15 letterwinners from the 2019 team, including the top three leaders in points in Kelsey Araujo (16), Annie Ibey (14), and Veda Hensel (8).
