ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Niagara men's tennis team started its season with a 6-1 defeat to the St. Bonaventure Bonnies on Saturday night.
 
MATCH SUMMARY

Doubles

• The Bonnies won all three doubles matches to win the point.

  
Singles

• Five of the six matches went to either a third set or a super tie breaker.
• Singles matches 2 through 6 all went the distanced.
• Pere Padro earned Niagara's lone win in the match in four singles. After falling 6-3 in the first set, Padro won 7-5 in the second set. On serve at 3-2 in the third, his opponent defaulted.
• In two singles, Jorge Sedeno battled to a 7-6(6) win in the second set before falling a super tie breaker, 10-8.
• William Gothlin also forced a third set with a 6-2 win in the second before losing 6-2 in the third.
• Eduardo Villalpando and Bruno Goncalves each won their first set but were unable to defeat their opponents in the next two sets.
