The Niagara University women's track and field team had a strong showing in its season-opening meet. The Purple Eagles placed second out of six teams at the University at Buffalo Mid-Week Invitational.

Niagara collected 82 points from the eight events to finish ahead of Daemen, Siena, Canisius, and Saint Bonaventure. The Bulls finished first with 225 points.
 

TRACK MARKS

• 100m
  • Haleigh Foster finished sixth with a time of 13.34 to earn three points.
  • Lauren McGrath ran the 100m in 13.48 for an eighth-place finish to earn one point for Niagara.
• 200m
  • Lauren McGrath earned Niagara's four points with a fifth-place finish with a time of 27.44.
  • Haleigh Foster (27.76) and Emily Oliverio (28.55) placed seventh and eighth, respectively, for a total of three points.
• 400m
  • Amani Scott led the Purple Eagles with a fifth-place finish (1:03.68) and was followed by freshman Kate Pratt in sixth place (1:03.95). The duo combined for seven points.
• 800m
  • Nora Klinowski won the race with a time of 2:28.34 to take all 10 points.
  • Erin Murray was second with a time of 2:30.73 for eight points.
  • Casey Roman earned one point with an eighth-place finish.
• 1500m
  • Nora Klinowski posted a time of 4:59.71 which was good for fifth.

FIELD MARKS

• Long Jump
  • Aqe'lah Douglas placed fourth after recording a 4.78 on her third attempt.
  • Julia Rak (4.75)  and Zairah Harris (4.67) finished right behind Douglas.
• Triple Jump
  • Julia Rak set a school record in the triple jump, posting a 10.77 on her third attempt to place second in the event.
  • Aqe'Lah Douglas also placed to give Niagara five points with a fourth-place finish (10. 17).
• Shot Put
  • Kiara McDowell finished second with a PR 12.28m.
• Discus Throw
  • Kiara McDowell saved her best for last, placing second with a 35.46 toss on her final attempt.
