WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y. – The Niagara Purple Eagles began their 2021 season with a 7-0 defeat to the Quinnipiac Bobcats on Friday.
  
MATCH SUMMARY
Doubles

• The Purple Eagles earned a hard fought win in No. 1 doubles for their lone win in the match. The duo of Megan Gamble and Elena Mayet outlasted Quinnipiac's Kamilla Nella and Claire Koscielski, 7-5.

Singles

• Olga Donchu, who will be Niagara's No.1, lost a close 3-set match to Kamilla Nella. After losing the first set, 6-4, she bounced back with a 7-6 win in the second set. Donchu was edged in the third set, 7-6.
• In five singles, Megan Gamble was nipped in the first 7-6 (3) before losing 6-2 in the following set.  
• Coral Rodriguez (No. 2), Elena Mayet (No. 4), and Jaida Borg (No. 6) lost in their collegiate debuts in straight sets.
