NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – The Purple Eagles earned their first-ever victory over Quinnipiac, defeating the Bobcats, 78-69, on Saturday in the Gallagher Center.

Game Recap
1st Quarter
  • The Purple Eagles took an early 18-8 lead over the Bobcats, including four points from both Angel Parker and Maddy Yelle and a 3-pointer from Ally Haar.
  • Niagara extended its lead, 24-8, with help from a bucket from Saige Glover and a triple from Brooklyn Jones.
  • Parker and Yelle each added another bucket in the remainder of the quarter and Niagara led the Bobcats, 28-17, at the end of the first quarter.
2nd Quarter
  • The Purple Eagles maintained their momentum in the second quarter, taking a 32-24 lead over the Bobcats with a little under five and a half minutes left to play.
  • A 3-pointer from Quinnipiac brought the Bobcats within six points of the Purple Eagles, 35-29, but the Purple Eagles continued to dominate, and closed the quarter out with a layup from Olivia Mason and another 3-pointer from Haar.
  • The Purple Eagles led the Bobcats, 42-31, at halftime.
3rd Quarter
  • A layup from Valentina Pepic and a third trey from Haar put Niagara ahead by 16 points, 47-31, with 8:52 remaining in the third quarter.
  • With 6:15 remaining, Niagara had a 51-34 advantage over the Bobcats. Quinnipiac went on a 5-0 run to cut Niagara's lead, 51-39.
  • Mason converted a 3-point play to give the Purple Eagles a 15-point lead, 54-39, with a little over five minutes remaining.
  • Quinnipiac went on a 9-0 run with three consecutive 3-pointers to cut the Purple Eagles' lead to just six points, 54-48, with 2:46 to go in the third quarter.
  • Niagara, however, maintained the lead and were ahead of the Bobcats, 58-50, after 30 minutes of play.
4th Quarter
  • Nine points from Parker gave the Purple Eagles a 10-point lead, 67-57, with 5:16 to go in the game.  
  • A layup from Pepic extended Niagara's lead to 12 points, 69-57.
  • Quinnipiac came back within seven points of the Purple Eagles, 69-62, but Niagara maintained control on both ends of the floor and came away with the 78-69 victory over the Bobcats.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Parker led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 23 points.
  • Faulcon and Haar both added 12 points and Faulcon led Niagara in rebounding with seven rebounds.
  • Mason dished out a career-best five assists.
  • Yelle led the Purple Eagles in steals with four, which is her career-high.
  • The win snapped a 16-game losing streak against the Bobcats and was head coach Jada Pierce's first win against Quinnipiac head coach Tricia Fabbri.
