Niagara Defeated by Buffalo Wednesday Night

BUFFALO, NY – Buffalo (4-2), led by a game-high 26 points from Dyaisha Fair, defeated Niagara (2-4), 95-55, in non-conference women's basketball action from Alumni Arena Wednesday night. 
 
Angel Parker finished with a team-high 15 points and eight assists, while Maddy Yelle added 13 points in the loss. 
 
Game Recap
First Quarter
Angel Parker scored the first four points for Niagara before UB scored nine straight to take an 11-4 lead in the opening minutes of the first. 
• Buffalo would hold a 19-9 advantage as the first quarter came to an end. 
• Niagara went 3-for-17 from the field and 3-for-3 from the line in the first quarter of play. 
 
Second Quarter
• Niagara trimmed the Bulls lead to six points, 23-17, halfway through the second after a pair of layups from Maddy Yelle.
• That would be as close as the Purple Eagles would get as Buffalo built its lead to as much as 19 points in the first half.
• Parker would be fouled with 0.5 seconds left in the frame and go on to make 2-of-3 at the line to put Niagara down 44-27 heading into the break. 
• Parker scored eight of her final 15 points in the second quarter, followed by Yelle with six. 
 
Third Quarter
• Buffalo would continue to build its lead in the second half, going up by 25, 60-35, with 2:16 left in the third.
• The Purple and White would respond with an 8-2 run to bring the deficit down to 19, 62-43.
• The quarter would end with a Fair 3-pointer to give UB a 65-43 advantage heading into the final 10-minutes of action. 
• Niagara had its best quarter shooting the ball in the third, making 42.9 percent of its shots. 
 
Fourth Quarter
• The Bulls opened the final quarter of action with a 10-0 run, building its lead to 77-43.
Ally Haar would score on a running floater to put an end to the Bulls' run. 
• Haar and Kyra Grimshaw would each score four points in the quarter to pace the Niagara offense. 
• Buffalo would keep its foot on the gas, coasting to a 95-55 win. 
 
Niagara Notes
• Parker's eight assists were a season-high for the junior. The Cheektowaga, NY native, also registered her fifth game of double-digit points.
• Yelle reached double-figures for the fourth time this season and the first time since she tallied 12 points at Michigan State. 
Sydney Faulcon and Aaliyah Parker led the Purple Eagles effort on the glass, grabbing five rebounds apiece.
• Niagara finished with 40 rebounds, 19 of which came on the offensive end of the floor. 
• The Purple Eagles finished the contest with 19 fast break points and 30 points in the paint.
