Purple Eagles Defeat D'Youville in Exhibition, 100-72

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Purple Eagles defeated D'Youville by a final score of 100-72 in an exhibition game Friday night at the Gallagher Center. 
 
Sydney Faulcon and Ally Haar scored 19 points to highlight a game that saw six Purple Eagles reach double-figures. 
 
Game Recap
First Quarter
• The score was tied four times, and the two teams exchanged leads on five different occasions in the first 10-minutes.
• Niagara took an 18-16 lead over D'Youville on a Saige Glover layup with 51-seconds remaining in the frame. 
• The Purple and White would not relinquish that lead for the remainder of the contest. 
• A Saints turnover resulted in a layup from Angel Parker that capped off a 7-2 run by the Purple Eagles.
• After 10-minutes of action, Parker and Faulcon combined for 14 of Niagara's 23 points. 
 
Second Quarter
• After a Saints basket to cut the NU lead to three points, 23-20, the Purple Eagles would go on a 10-2 run to go up 33-22, with 7:01 remaining.
• Parker scored four points, and Haar contributed a three-ball to give Niagara its first double-digit lead of the night. 
• The lead would grow to as much as 13-points after Glover completed the and-one opportunity with 39 seconds remaining in the half. 
Lore Porter would make her second triple of the half with seven seconds on the clock, giving Niagara a 49-37 lead at the break.
 
Third Quarter
• The 12-point lead at the break would be the closest D'Youvillle would get for the remainder of the contest as Niagara continued to build its lead in the third quarter.
• A 14-6 run that lasted over five minutes of game time helped give Niagara a 20-point advantage over the visiting Saints. 
• Five different Purple Eagles would score during the run, highlighted by five points from Parker. 
• Just over a minute later, Faulcon would finish off a three-point play at the charity stripe to give Niagara a 24-point lead, 71-47. 
• Faulcon would go 3-for-3 at the stripe and 2-for-3 from the field in the frame to give NU a 76-55 advantage heading into the final 10-minutes. 
 
Fourth Quarter
• Faulcon and company would start the final stanza with a 6-0 run, with four points coming from the Niagara forward. 
• The Niagara lead would grow to 31-points when Kyra Grimshaw scored her seventh point of the night. The bucket also gave NU 100 points for the contest. 
• Six of Faulcon's final 19 points came in the last quarter of play.
 
Eagles Eye On
• Faulcon finished the night 8-for-13 from the field and 3-for-3 from the line. Faulcon grabbed seven boards.
• Haar scored 10 of her 19 in the second half, finishing the contest 6-for-14 from the field, including 6-for-10 from the line. The senior also added one triple.
• Parker finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, and six steals. The junior was 7-for-17 from the floor and 2-for-3 from beyond the arc.
Maddy Yelle added 11 points, while Lore Porter and Saige Glover contributed 10 apiece off the bench.
• Niagara finished the night with a 42.6 clip from the field, 25.0 percent from 3-point land, and 60.0 percent from the charity stripe.
• The Purple Eagles caused 31 Saint turnovers which resulted in 34 points for Niagara.

• Niagara will officially open the 2021-22 season against Loyola (Md.) on Tuesday, Nov. 9. The contest between the Purple Eagles and Greyhounds will tip-off at 1:00 p.m. from the Gallagher Center.
