Women's Basketball Readies for Big 4 Bout with UB Wednesday

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Niagara women's basketball continues its non-conference slate Wednesday night with a quick trip to Big 4 Rival Buffalo. Tip-off from Alumni Arena will be at 7 p.m. and air on ESPN3.
 
Last Time Out: 
• Niagara fell to La Salle on Saturday Nov. 20, by the final score of 83-71.
Angel Parker scored a game-high 24 points and added a team-best five assists and eight steals. 
Olivia Mason was the leading rebounder against La Salle, grabbing eight boards while scoring nine points. 
Lore Porter added eight points and grabbed seven rebounds off the bench for NU.
Ally Haar and Maddy Yelle contributed eight and seven points, respectively. 
• The Purple Eagles forced 27 La Salle turnovers, resulting in 29 points for the Purple and White. 
 • Niagara finished the game with a season-high 20 steals, with seven Purple Eagles recording at least one.
 
Niagara Notes
Aaliyah Parker earned her second consecutive MAAC Rookie of the Week Award (Nov. 15 & Nov. 22) after averaging 11 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1.5 steals against Colgate and La Salle.
• The freshman recorded her second double-double against Colgate on Nov. 17, scoring 19 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
• Aaliyah leads the Purple and White with 7.8 rebounds per game and is second on the team with 12.2 points per contest. 
Angel Parker leads Niagara with 14.2 points per game after a 24-point outburst against La Salle on Saturday, Nov. 20. The junior also leads the team with 5.2 assists and 4.2 steals per contest. 
Ally Haar contributes 10.2 points through five games and scored a season-best 22 points in the Purple Eagles season-opening win against Loyola. 
Olivia Mason has started all five games this season, averaging 5.2 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, 3.2 of which are offensive boards. 
• Niagara recorded a season-high 20 steals against La Salle and currently leads the MAAC with 13.6 steals per contest. 
• The Purple Eagles are third in the MAAC with 38.6 rebounds per contest and lead the conference in offensive rebounding with 17.2 per game. 
• Niagara's 71.0 points per game is second in the MAAC, trailing only Quinnipiac (74.5). 
 
Series History
• Niagara and Buffalo will meet for the 44th time on Wednesday night. The Bulls hold a 24-19 advantage in the all-time series with the Purple Eagles. 
• The Purple and White last defeated UB on Dec. 18, 2017, by the final score of 75-62 at the Gallagher Center. 
• The last meeting between the two schools came on Nov. 9, 2019, with the Bulls topping Niagara, 81-67.
