Women's Basketball Set to Host Colgate Wednesday Night

NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – Niagara returns to Monteagle Ridge for a non-conference battle with Colgate on Wednesday. The contest between the Purple Eagles and Raiders will tip at 6:00 p.m. from the Gallagher Center. 
 
Last Time Out: 
• The Purple Eagles took on Michigan State this past Sunday, falling to the Spartans by the final score of 89-65.
Maddy Yelle led the Purple and White with 12 points, followed by Ally Haar with 11 and Aaliyah Parker with 10. 
• Haar grabbed a team-high eight rebounds, while Angel Parker led the team with four assists and six steals. 
• The Purple Eagles set season-highs with 70 field goal attempts, 26 3-point attempts, 39 rebounds, and 15 assists. The bench also scored a season-best 34 points. 
• Niagara forced 19 turnovers, resulting in 22 points.
 
Niagara Notes
• Aaliyah earned MAAC Rookie of the Week honors as she averaged 13 points, 8.7 rebounds, 3.3 steals, and 24.2 minutes in Niagara's first three games. 
• The freshman recorded her first career double-double against Oakland, scoring 18 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She also collected seven steals against the Golden Grizzlies. 
• Parker leads the Purple Eagles with 13 points per game, followed by her sister Angel Parker and Haar, averaging 12.0 points per contest through three games.
• Aaliyah also leads the team in rebounding, with 8.7 caroms per contest, followed by Olivia Mason with 5.7 boards per contest. 
• Angel continues to be the team leader in assists, averaging five per game going into Wednesday's contest. She is also averaging a team-best 3.7 steals per contest. 
• As a team, Niagara averages 70.0 points per game while shooting 38.5 percent from the field. 
• The Purple Eagles average 35.3 rebounds, 13.3 assists, and 13.3 steals per contest. 
• Niagara forces 22.7 turnovers per game, leading to 18.0 points per game.
 
Series History
• In nine meetings with Colgate over the last 17 years, Niagara holds a 7-2 record over the Raiders, including four wins in the last five meetings. 
• The Purple Eagles and Raiders most recently met on Dec. 1, 2019, with Colgate coming out on top 85-72.
• The last time Colgate visited Monteagle Ridge was Dec. 31, 2018. The Purple Eagles won that contest by the final score of 74-69.
 
Spectator Policy
• Starting Nov. 1, fans at all Niagara's indoor sporting events must show proof of Covid-19 vaccination to enter.
• Acceptable proofs of vaccination include: a physical vaccination card or certificate, New York State Excelsior Pass, CLEAR Digital Vaccine Card, Canadian Vaccination Receipt, and digital vaccine verifications issued by states outside of New York. Photo ID may also be required.
• Children under the age of 12 may enter without vaccination, as long as they are accompanied by a vaccinated adult, and must wear a mask except when eating or drinking.
• Fully vaccinated fans are not required to wear masks, although it is strongly encouraged for all fans.
