Marcus Hammond has been named the MAAC Player of the Week, announced by the conference on Monday.
Hammond had a phenomenal week for the Purple Eagles as they opened the 2021-22 season with games at Xavier and No. 17 Ohio State.
Against Xavier on Nov. 9, Hammond led all scorers with 25 points. He shot 9-for-17 from the field and made four 3-pointers. Hammond brought down six rebounds and went 3-for-3 from the foul line.
At No. 17 Ohio State on Nov. 12, Hammond led the Purple Eagles with 22 points. He had six rebounds, three assists and made four 3-pointers.
On the week, Hammond averaged 23.5 points per game, 6.0 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game. He shot 51.6 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from 3-point range.
The Purple Eagles are back in action Nov. 19-21 at The YSU/J. Arnold Wealth Management Company Basketball Tournament. NU takes on SIUE at 7:45 p.m on Nov. 19, St. Thomas at 4:45 p.m. on Nov. 20 and Youngstown State at 3:45 p.m. on Nov. 21.
