WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ - The Niagara women's soccer program tied the game late on a penalty kick goal from
Alexis Horwedel, however, Monmouth would answer with a penalty kick goal of its own moments later to earn the 3-2 win in MAAC women's soccer action in West Long Branch, NJ.
Game Recap
• Monmouth scored in the seventh-minute to take a 1-0 lead over Niagara. Jesi Rossman found the back of the net for the Hawks, her second goal of the season.
• The Hawks would control the first half, taking five corner kicks and putting four shots to pester the Niagara defense.
• In the 67th minute, Monmouth would score its second goal of the game, this one once again off the foot of Rossman.

Mackenzie Mix on a corner kick in the 77th minute of play, resulting in the Purple Eagles first goal of the game, cutting the Monmouth lead in half.
• A foul in the box by the Hawks gave Horwedel a chance to even the score with a penalty kick. The Rotterdam, NY, native found the back of the net for her second PK goal of the season, tying the game at 2-2.
• Moments later Monmouth would find themselves with a penalty kick chance of their own after after a Purple Eagle foul. Lauren Karabin executed the attempt for the game-winning goal.
Niagara Notes
• Niagara is 4-2 in one score games following Saturday's loss.
• Mix now has two goals on the season, a career-high for the back.
• Horwedel had scored three goals in four seasons with the Purple Eagles coming into this season. The former Schalmont Sabre now has three goals on the season, moving her career total to six.
• Niagara took six shots in the contest, compared to 12 for the Hawks.
