Purple Eagles Travel to Monmouth for Saturday Night Match

GAME 12: Niagara (9-2-0, 3-1-0) at Monmouth (8-3-1, 4-0-1)
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Purple Eagles women's soccer team will be in West Long Branch, NJ for a 6:30 p.m. tilt with the Monmouth Hawks.
 
Series History
• Niagara and Monmouth will play each other for the first time since the MAAC Quarterfinals last spring. The Hawks defeated Niagara by a score of 1-0 to advance.
• The Hawks have dominated the all-time series, winning 17 of the 18 matches between the MAAC rivals.
• Niagara's lone win over Monmouth came in 1986, a 6-4 win for the Purple Eagles.
 
Niagara Notes
• The Purple Eagles are coming off a 3-2 win over Fairfield last Saturday at Niagara Field. Emma Bough, Maia MacLean and Emma Davies scored for the Purple and White.
• On the season, Niagara has three student-athletes with six or more goals on the season, including MAAC leader in goals with nine, Florence Vaillancourt.
Djeynaba Thiam is currently on a five-game point streak after collecting an assist against Fairfield. Thiam is third on the team with six goals.
• Three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week MacLean is second on the team with seven goals and 18 points.
• As a team, Niagara leads the conference in goals (32) and scoring average (2.91), while ranking second in the league with in scoring margin (1.89).
• The Purple Eagles are looking to start 4-1 in league play for the first time since 2015.
 
Monmouth Notes
• The Hawks are unbeaten through five league games after defeating Fairfield in double-overtime on Wednesday.
• Monmouth is led by Lauren Karabin, who has five goals on the season, along with two assists and 12 points. Jesi Rossman leads the team with four helpers.
• In goal, the Hawks have switched between Maddie Ogden and Rebecca Winslow. Winslow leads the team with 1.00 goals against average and a 0.774 save percentage.

• Niagara will remain on the road as they head to Loudonville, NY to take on defending MAAC Champion Siena on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 3 p.m.
