NEW ROCHELLE, NY – The Purple Eagles dropped a 1-0 contest to Iona Saturday afternoon in MAAC women's soccer action in New Rochelle, NY. Niagara is now 13-3 overall and 6-3 in MAAC play.
Game Recap
• Niagara had all six of its first-half goals go on target but failed to beat the Iona keeper, Emma Havrilla.
• Emma Davies took three shots in the first half, while Mackenzie Mix, Maia MacLean, and Alexis Horwedel each put one shot on goal.
• Iona's Samantha Hogan found the back of the net in the 32nd minute of play. The goal would prove to be enough for the Gaels.
• Lauren Kelch was given a red card in the 76th minute of play, forcing Niagara to play a woman-down for the final 14-minutes of action.
• Niagara would get a couple more chances to even the score in the second half, but the Purple Eagles were stopped each time.
Niagara Notes
• For the first time this season, Niagara was held off the scoreboard.
• The Purple and White took a total of 15 shots, 10 of which were on goal.
• Ida Miceli, along with Mix, Horwedel, and Davies each played a full 90-minutes for the Purple Eagles.
• Felicia Grufman made two saves on six shots faced in the loss.
