Women's Soccer Concludes Home Stand with Fairfield

 Game 11: Niagara (8-2-0, 2-1-0) vs Fairfield (6-2-3, 2-0-1)
NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY – The Niagara women's soccer program looks to rebound following a 2-1 loss to Quinnipiac on Wednesday that snapped an eight-game win streak this Saturday when the team welcomes Fairfield to Niagara Field for a noon tilt.
 
Series Notes
• Niagara and Fairfield will meet for 34th time with the Stags leading the all-time series 21-10-2.
• The Purple Eagles do have home field advantage as they are 10-3 against the Stags at Niagara Field.
• Niagara and Fairfield are 4-4-2 in its last 10 meetings.
 
Niagara Notes
Djeynaba Thiam scored the Purple Eagles lone goal against Quinnipiac on Wednesday, her fourth-straight game with a goal. The junior now has six on the season.
Florence Vaillancourt leads the team and the MAAC with nine goals, six assists and 27 points.
• Niagara has had two goalies split time in goal this season with freshman Felicia Grufman getting the bulk of the minutes. The Sweedish keeper has made six starts and currently sports a .750 save percentage and 1.20 goals against average.
• Freshman midfield and three-time MAAC Rookie of the Week Maia MacLean has six goals and three assists on the season. She has had two multi-goal games.
• As a team Niagara leads the MAAC in scoring average (2.9) and is second in shots (162) and scoring margin (1.10).
 
Fairfield Notes
• The Stags come into Saturday with a 6-2-3 overall mark and a 2-0-1 conference record.
• Fairfield is led by Gabby Diodati who has six goals on the season as well as three assists and 15 points.
• Elle Scott is second on the team with five goals, followed by Lexi Lehan with three.
• Gena Pike has started nine games for the Stags this season and sports 1.27 goals against average and save percentage of .738.
