NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y. – Despite an early lead and a late comeback, the Purple Eagles fell to Marist, 66-60, in overtime on Friday.

Game Recap
1st Quarter
  • The Purple Eagles went on a 6-0 run to open the game, which included buckets from Olivia Mason, Angel Parker and Valentina Pepic.
  • A triple from Maddy Yelle kept Niagara's lead at six points, 11-5, with a little over two minutes to go in the first quarter.
  • Parker added four more points in the remainder of the quarter and the Purple Eagles led the Red Foxes, 15-6, going into the second quarter.
2nd Quarter
  • Yelle sank a bucket early in the second quarter to give Niagara a 10-point lead, 17-7.
  • Marist went on a 9-0 run to cut Niagara's lead to one point, 17-16, but buckets from Kyra Grimshaw and Valentina Pepic gave Niagara some breathing room, 21-16.
  • Grimshaw added two more points and Ally Haar converted a 3-point play to keep the Purple Eagles in the lead, 26-20, going into halftime.
3rd Quarter
  • The Red Foxes opened the third quarter on an 8-0 run to take their first lead of the game, 28-26, with a little over six minutes remaining in the quarter.
  • Marist held the Purple Eagles to just six points in the third quarter, four of which came from Mason.
  • Marist led Niagara by eight points, 40-32, at the end of the third quarter.
4th Quarter
  • Two free throws from Sydney Faulcon and a basket from Mason cut the Red Foxes' lead to just four points, 40-36, with nine minutes left in regulation.
  • Haar heated up late in the fourth quarter, sinking three triples in a row to keep the Purple Eagles down by just four points, 53-49.
  • A bucket from Yelle and two free throws from Parker brought Niagara within two points of Marist. 55-53.
  • With about 11 seconds to go in the quarter, a layup from Parker tied the score, 55-55, to force the game into overtime.
Overtime
  • Marist struck first in overtime, taking a three-point lead over NU, 58-55.
  • Mason brought Niagara within one point of the Red Foxes, 58-57, with over two and a half minutes remaining in the overtime period.
  • Parker added one more points and Haar added two, but Marist maintained control for the remainder of the game to come away with the 66-60 victory.

Eagle's Eye On
  • Haar led the Purple Eagles in scoring with 16 points. She made three 3-pointers, tying her career-best. Haar also went a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
  • Mason led the team in rebounding with a career-high nine rebounds. She also added 10 points, tying her career-high. Mason led the Purple Eagles in steals with six.
  • Parker dished out a team-best seven assists and also added 11 points and four steals.
