GAME RECAP
1st Period
  • Zac Herrmann netted the first goal of the game off an assist from Croix Evingson to give the Purple Eagles the 1-0 lead over the Tigers with about 5:15 remaining in the first period.
  • Less than 10 seconds later, the Tigers evened the score at 1-1 after a goal from Alden Dupois.
  • Despite a strong effort from Niagara in the reminder of the period, the Purple Eagles and the Tigers went into the first intermission with the score knotted at one goal apiece, with both teams recording eight shots on goal in the first 20 minutes of action.
2nd Period
  • The Purple Eagles appeared to score a second goal about four minutes into the second period, with Walker Sommer taking a feed from Carter Randklev but, after a lengthy officials' review, Niagara was called for too many men on the ice, negating the goal.
  • The Tigers began to pick up steam after the no-goal for the Purple Eagles. Jake Hamacher scored at 17:57 and Kobe Walker added another goal for RIT less than one minute later to put the Tigers on top of the Purple Eagles, 3-1.
  • The Purple Eagles took quality shots on net during the period, but were unable to shift the momentum back in their favor as the Tigers maintained the 3-1 lead going into the third period.
3rd Period
  • Niagara created lots of opportunities in the third period, including a quick flurry of shots from Ludwig Stenlund, Ryan Naumovski and Evingson about six minutes into the quarter, but none of the shots hit their mark, leaving NU still trailing by two goals, 3-1.
  • At 8:09, Will Calverley scored for the Tigers, extending RIT's lead, 4-1, with 12 minutes left to play in regulation.
  • The Purple Eagles pulled their goalie with five and a half minutes to go in the third period and the Tigers were able to score an empty-net goal to take the 5-1 lead.
  • Niagara continued to create scoring opportunities, with back-to-back shots from Herrmann with about three minutes to go in the period and consecutive shots from Stenlund, Sommer and Brandon Stanley less than a minute later.
  • Herrmann and Naumovski both tried to connect for the Purple Eagles in the final minute of the game, but neither shot found its home as Niagara fell to the Tigers, 5-1.

EAGLE'S EYE ON…
