   The Niagara Purple Eagles close out the month of January hosting the Marist Red Foxes on Friday at 7 p.m.
 
Scene Setter
•  After having a season-long three-game win streak - with a combined margin of victory of four points - the Purple Eagles have lost their last two games.
•  Niagara dropped both games in its New Jersey road trip last week, falling to Monmouth and Saint Peter's.
•  The Purple Eagles return to the Gallagher Center where they have won four of their last five games, including their last two games (Rider and Siena).
•  Niagara welcomes Marist to the Gallagher Center for the first time in two seasons when the Purple Eagles defeated the Red Foxes, 100-76, in their regular-season finale on February 23, 2018.
 
Tipoff Tidbits
•  The Purple Eagles lead all MAAC teams in turnover margin (3.5), turnovers per game (10.7), and fewest turnovers (203).  NU ranks sixth in the nation in fewest turnovers and 12th in turnovers per game.
•  Niagara is first in the MAAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.1) and had a positive assist-to-turnover ratio in 12 straight games from December 1 to January 19.
•  Marcus Hammond scored a career-high 36 points to lead all scorers at Quinnipiac on January 10. Hammond's 36 points are the most by a Purple Eagle in two seasons and are tied for the most by a MAAC player this season.
•  Marcus Hammond leads the Purple Eagles in scoring with a career-high 13.3 points per game and is averaging 17.1 points in league games which rank third. He has scored in double figures 12 times, including a span of seven straight games from January 3-26.
•  NU dished out a season-high 19 assists and had a season-low six turnovers in the win versus Rider on January 17.
•  Niagara is second in the MAAC in free throw percentage (.753) which is the highest percentage since the 2004-05 season (.760).  
•  James Towns is nine points away from reaching the 1,000-point threshold.
•  Marcus Hammond is second in the MAAC in assist-to-turnover ratio (2.1).
•  NU is shooting a MAAC-leading 42.3 percent from 3-point range in conference games.
•  Marcus Hammond recorded his first career double-double with a team-high 21 points and a career-high 10 rebounds at Monmouth. Hammond joins Raheem Solomon and Greg Kuakumensah, who has three double-doubles, as Purple Eagles with a double-double this season.
•  Raheem Solomon is shooting a MAAC-best 57.1 percent (16-for-28) from 3-point range in MAAC games.
 
On The Court
Marist Red Foxes (4-14, 3-6 MAAC)
•  The Red Foxes, who were picked eighth in the MAAC Preseason Poll, have won two of their last three games.
•  Michael Cubbage leads the Red Foxes in scoring at 9.8 points per game.
•  Tyler Sagl was named MAAC Rookie of the Week on January 27 after averaging 20 points in two games. Sagl joins Tyler Saint-Furcy as Red Foxes who have been named MAAC Rookie of the Week this season.
•  Marist ranks 11th in the league in scoring (59.5 ppg), assists per game (9.2), and field goal percentage (.379).
 
Against The Red Foxes (Niagara Leads 28-21)
•  Niagara had won two straight in the series prior to losing in the teams' lone meeting last season, 79-58, in Poughkeepsie. 
•  The Purple Eagles are 13-3 in the last 16 meetings in the Gallagher Center.
•  NU leads the all-time series, but is 4-6 in the last 10 encounters with the Red Foxes.
