EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Niagara Purple Eagles began their spring season with defeats to Ball State and Michigan State on Saturday.

MATCH SUMMARY

Doubles
  • The Purple Eagles won the first match in the contest in two doubles. The team of Manuel Alonso and Jorge Sedeno defeated Ball State's Danilo Kovacevic and Parrish Simmons, 6-3.
  • The Cardinal won in No. 1 doubles, 6-3, to setup a winner-take-all match in three doubles.
  • Niagara's No. 3 team of William Gothlin and Eduardo Villalpando was edged, 6-4.
 
Singles
  • Ball State's Parrish Simmons won in straight sets in three singles.
  • The Cardinal took a 3-0 lead after winning in five singles and clinched the match with a win in two singles.
  • Darrel Harxhi lost a close two-setter, 6-4, 7-6, in one singles.
