NIAGARA UNIV., N.Y – The Niagara Purple Eagles will appear on ESPNU as part of the MAAC Wildcard Game package when they play at the Manhattan Jaspers on Friday, February 7 at 7 p.m.
The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU and allows the MAAC and ESPN the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses. Three more contests (Feb. 14, Feb. 21, Feb. 28) will be flexed onto ESPNU. Those matchups will be announced at a later date.
Niagara and Manhattan, along with Monmouth University and Quinnipiac University, share a conference-best 4-2 record through the first six games of league play.
The Purple Eagles, led by first-year head coach
Greg Paulus, are on a three-game win streak with victories at Iona and home victories over Rider and Siena.
The Purple Eagles were edged by the Jaspers, 67-62, in the first meeting of the season on January 5 at the Gallagher Center. Nine of the last 10 meetings have been decided by 10 points or less.
The regular season culminates with the 2020 MAAC Basketball Championships in the event's inaugural year at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey from March 10-14. The Garden State will be home to the MAAC Basketball Championships for the first time since 2003. For tickets and more information, visit
