LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Niagara Purple Eagles wrapped up play at the Bucknell Invitational in their season opener over the weekend.

Invitational Summary
Singles

• Andreea Peteu and Olga Donchu competed in the A championship and finished third and fifth, respectively. Peteu won her first round match over Saint Francis' Laura Gutierrez, 6-3, 6-7 (4), 11-9 before falling in the semifinals. Donchu dropped her first round match, but she bounced back with wins a pair of straight set wins.
• Erika Gonzalez and Megan Gamble played in the B bracket. Gonzalez went 2-1 to finish in third place, and Gamble placed sixth.
• Ali Hutchinson and Madigan Humiston competed in the A bracket with Humiston winning her first collegiate match against Howard's Ragas, 6-4, 6-3.
• Alexandra Whitney and Lila Trunzo played in the D championship bracket. Trunzo placed sixth after beating Howard's Sydney Taylor, 2-5, 6-3, 14-12.

Doubles

• The doubles team of Gamble/Gonzalez and Donchu/Hutchinson played in the A bracket. Gamble/Gonzalez won its first round match before falling in the semifinals. The pair finished third while Donchu/Hutchinson placed seventh.
• The doubles team of Whitney/Trunzo and Peteu/Humiston competed in the B bracket. Peteu/Humiston finished sixth and Whitney/Trunzo placed eighth.
