LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Niagara women's volleyball team has earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the 2018-19 season, announced on Monday.

The award honors collegiate and high school teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.

The Purple Eagles maintained a grade point average of 3.36, with seven players maintaining a 3.4 or higher and one player earning a perfect 4.0.

Niagara opens its season Aug. 30-31 at the Florida Atlantic University Invitational in Boca Raton, Fla.
