LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. – The Purple Eagles women's golf team completed the MAAC Championships on Saturday, tying for fifth place with a team score of 994 (+130). It is Niagara's highest finish since 2012, when the team also finished in fifth place.
After the suspension of play due to weather on Friday, the team completed the second round Saturday morning before playing the third and final round.
Sydney Shaw led the Purple Eagles with a total score of 240 (+24). She finished tied for 14
th place.
Sarah Godfrey moved up three spots from round two, finishing in 19
th place. She carded a three-round total of 245 (+29).
Susan Leone finished tied for 22
nd place with a total score of 252 (+36).
Daniella Hopper moved up five spots from the end of round two, finishing tied for 29
th place with a total score of 258 (+42).
Samantha Bernardo rounded out the Niagara group, finishing in 38
th place. She carded a 54-hole total of 269 (+53).
The MAAC also announced the All-Academic Team on Saturday. Bernardo,
Marissa Del Monaco,
Allison Emborsky, Godfrey, Hopper and Shaw all received all-academic honors.
To qualify for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at his or her institution and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or higher.
